It’s full steam ahead for the much-anticipated Harmonie Golf and Beach Estate with construction of the golf course already underway.
With construction underway at the 18-hole golf course at Harmonie Golf and Beach Estate, and the first sod due to be turned on residential Phase 1 comprising 81 villas in the first quarter of 2024, excitement is mounting for the development taking shape along Les Salines’ peninsula road in the west of Mauritius. Completion is anticipated within three years.
If you don’t know the island, the best way to describe its location is across the water from Le Morne, arguably its most globally recognisable landmark. The grand villas envisioned for the massive plots planned for Harmonie Golf and Beach Estate look onto this UNESCO heritage site from various angles, some more direct than others, the latter getting the alternate benefit of sunsets on La Tourelle mountain on the opposite side of a horseshoe-shaped lagoon. The utter tranquillity is unmistakeable – the kind of peace in nature that can only be described as “bushveld bliss”.
“Les Salines is not just a road; it’s a lifestyle – marking the entrance to a modern town with many attractions and a wide range of residences from exclusive villas or beachfront apartments. It will all be right here,” says Rinie Boshoff, Pam Golding Properties (Mauritius) Development Manager for the West Coast.
Think of the most prestigious addresses in the world – Ocean Drive in Miami, The Palms in Dubai, Nettleton Road, Clifton in Cape Town – and this will stand up well. “Tucked away in the heart of Black River in The West, this newly constructed cul de sac will provide access to luxurious new resorts and property developments with all their related five-star amenities. Thanks to its exclusivity, it will be the wealthiest area on the island in the next five years,” she says.
Harmonie Golf and Beach Estate is developed by Semaris, in partnership with Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels. Beachcomber is a leading hospitality player in Mauritius, and has carefully curated its reputation for excellence and luxury since 1952. At the same time, they have invested in the environment, culture and communities of what the locals call “paradise island”, through various corporate social responsibility and environmental responsibility projects. THE ART OF LIVING IN NATURE
Their conscientious approach to preserving the history of people and place extends to Harmonie Golf and Beach Estate, an environmentally responsible development like no other in Mauritius. In addition to the golf course, which is GEO Certified for its environmental and social responsibility commitment, and the new Harmonie Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa, the estate will house 220 luxury villas and serviced plots across 150 hectares at around 54 metres above sea level. Plot size will average 2 000 square metres, with a built area from 401 square metres. “With the topography of the land, the highest plots are the most sought-after. However, the architect took care to ensure that all the villas have unobstructed views and don’t face each other,” says Nathalie Lam, property consultant at the estate.
Living amongst jaw-dropping natural attractions is one thing, but adding an energy-efficient lifestyle to the mix is quite another. Harmonie Golf and Beach Estate is a Property Development Scheme (PDS), approved for real estate sales to foreigners, featuring bespoke, sustainable, passive design that works with the tropical climate for optimal temperature control. Bioclimatic architecture harnesses natural ventilation and light while each villa’s orientation limits its energy footprint. Renewable materials are used and endemic plant species feature in the landscape. Energy and water-saving equipment is provided, wastewater treatment and reuse facilitated, rainwater harvested and recyclables collected and sorted. Buyers can also opt for a 100% off-grid villa.
“You can buy a serviced plot, which, aside from exterior specifications, allows you to decide on the design and size of your villa. Or choose a plot-and-villa option, offering three villa concepts with flexible add-on extras. Whatever you decide, your home will reflect your lifestyle and decor preferences in a truly curated way,” says Boshoff.
Villa N is designed for space and privacy, Villa S offers sweeping views and a central courtyard while Villa W boasts beautiful natural light as well as panoramic golf course and ocean vistas. General features include plenty of wood panelling, a rustic garden, swimming pool, and an ample patio. Property investment here promises strong capital growth and ensures permanent residency. Prices start from €490,000 for a plot and €1.61m for a villa.
