One real estate agency has navigated Covid and the ensuing economic environment to come through stronger than ever. Paul Stevens, CEO of Just Property, touched on the company’s resilience in his addresses at Just Property’s National Convention at the end of March.
“Just Property is fortunate to have a business model that is resilient in many ways and if I think of the stressful moments that many of us shared during those months of lockdown and look at where we are today, we can count ourselves blessed,” Stevens said before noting that the company had enjoyed record success in both 2020 and 2021.

Over the past two years, the Just Property Group has grown despite the tough trading landscape. Other indicators include:
4.57% growth in letting turnover.
3.14% growth in properties let.
50.72% growth in sales turnover.
34.65% growth in residential units sold.
40.51% growth in commercial property turnover.
22.72% combined turnover for residential and commercial rentals.
In addition, Stevens noted that March 2021 had been Just Property’s best sales month ever.
The theme for the 2022 Just Property National Convention was Resilience, and during the awards presentation, Stevens acknowledged that while the past two years have been marked by remarkable human resilience, ingenuity and creativity, the pandemic also triggered one of the worst jobs crises since the Great Depression the impact of which will be seen increased rates of poverty and widened inequalities for years to come. “2020 was a year of survival in every possible way… Yes, we were very blessed to have a business model that came out of this somewhat unscathed as a business, but all of us have felt some degree of emotional or psychological distress, and tragically many have lost loved ones.
“These difficult times have also brought out the best in people. Covid 19 didn’t give us a choice; it moved us out of our comfort zones, and the upside is that this pushed us to step up and achieve things we might not have dreamed of otherwise achieved, like the great results we are sharing today.
“It’s when we are facing our darkest hours or hardest circumstances that we learn the most,” he said, noting that Russia-Ukraine hostilities were yet another blow to the global economy. “But we are as resilient as we choose to be. We need to leave behind the powerlessness we may have felt in 2020 and step into a powerful connection to the people around us, our families, our work colleagues, friends and clients.”
Stevens concluded with advice for his team: “Ensure you pay careful attention to how you treat one another and the clients you serve. We are dealing with people’s homes, their place of safety and solace, where families are formed and love is shared. This is a great privilege. I encourage you to form close and lasting relationships with the people around you and in particular the clients you serve. This will ensure we stay resilient in any times of uncertainty that might be ahead of us.”
