One notable Franke innovation is the use of unique Tectonite material, and the standout features of the Sirius and Orion ranges make them significant investments in timeless style and durability.
Innovative functionality
In 1911, Herman Franke opened a small sheet metal business in Rorschach, Switzerland. Since then, the company has built a legacy as a pioneer in home solutions, blending forward-thinking innovation with engineering precision and exquisite craftsmanship.
With factories all over the world, the brand remains rooted in “Swissness”, embodying values of peerless quality, trusted reliability, timeless design, and, since earliest times, the uncompromising pursuit of sustainable processes.
Their sink portfolio includes premium 18/10 Stainless Steel Sinks and Fragranite Sinks, a mould-breaking synthetic material that gave rise to Franke’s Tectonite. Matched with accessories and specialist cleaning products, Franke sinks have become trusted and sought after around the world in hardworking residential and commercial kitchens.
Tectonite – the future of sink technology?
Tectonite is a composite material with a smooth, non-porous, finish and a granite-like appearance. The material contains carbon fibre polyester, rather like modern armour plating to resist impact and surface stability, as well as quartz particles and acrylic resins.
Tectonite is both lightweight and incredibly durable, created to offer the ultimate durability, with high resistance to stains, impact, chipping, heat, and bacteria; and UV-protected to resist harsh light.
The brand prioritises environmentally friendly production, resource-efficient designs and recyclable materials. Tectonite Sinks are 100% recyclable. Aligned with Italtile’s sustainable ethos, all Franke sinks carry Italtile’s coveted LiveGreen label.

How to clean a Franke Tectonite sink
Day-to-Day Cleaning
Wipe the sink with a soft cloth or sponge moistened with a little mild dish soap to remove food residues and water spots.
Stubborn Stains
Don’t reach for the bleach and ammonia. Italtile stocks Franke’s Inox Cream, a specialist, non-abrasive paste formulated to keep your Franke Tectonite Sink spotless.
Limescale
Water quality differs from region to region. If you live in a hardwater area, apply a mild vinegar and water solution: let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
How to Avoid Heat Damage
While Tectonite has been formulated for heat resistance up to 300 degrees Celsius, we strongly suggest you do not subject your sink to extreme heat for longer than ten seconds. Do not put hot pots straight off the stove or out of the oven onto the Tectonite surface. Rather let them cool off first.
The hygiene factor
Both Franke Orion and Franke Sirius Sink ranges feature a coated surface that protects against bacteria and stubborn stains, ensuring a hygienic kitchen environment.
