Century21 South Africa CEO Eva August

Eva August is the new CEO of Century 21 South Africa, this is as the real estate brand marks the start of a new generational vision.

Century 21 South Africa, the local arm of one of the world’s leading real estate brand, has entered a new phase under fresh ownership as a group of seasoned industry professionals takes the reins. The move comes with a clear intention: to build a generational business grounded in family values, long-term thinking and operational excellence.

The new owners – Frank Haupt, Johann Haupt and Elmor Kruger – officially took over in late 2024 following a stringent international application and approval process by Century 21’s global headquarters in the US. Their proposal stood out not because of flash or fanfare, but because it reflected deep knowledge of the South African property market and a track record of getting things done.

Under the new ownership, Eva August steps into her role as CEO. With over 15 years of experience in the property sector and five years as National Operations Manager at Century 21 South Africa, Eva brings a sharp operational lens and a deep understanding of the franchise business model.

A focus is on substance over spectacle

“This transition represents a considered shift in leadership,” said August. “Our focus is on substance over spectacle – prioritising the right people, sound systems and long-term sustainability. The South African property sector calls for more than ambition. It requires consistency, integrity and strategic clarity, which this team is well positioned to deliver.”

Co-owner Frank Haupt adds a layer of development and town planning expertise, having worked extensively in residential and student developments. “We’re not in this to chase trends,” said Haupt. “We’re here to build – for our franchisees, our clients and our families.”

Johann Haupt brings operational leadership from several Century 21 offices including Paarl, Franschhoek and Potchefstroom. With academic qualifications in trade, financial planning and property law, he balances business discipline with entrepreneurial drive.

“This is a long-term play. We see Century 21 South Africa as a business our children can one day be part of – not just one we manage today.”

Elmor Kruger, Managing Director of Century 21 Student Hub, one of the largest student rental entities in South Africa, rounds out the leadership team with a strong focus on business operations and community engagement. “Relationships are central to the way we work,” said Kruger. “Whether with franchisees, staff or investors, we take a grounded approach to growth.”

Century 21 South Africa remains committed to supporting its franchises and agents with a robust operational model while staying agile enough to respond to shifting market conditions. The new leadership has made clear that their success will be measured not only in profit, but in longevity and trust.

This change marks a deliberate handover grounded in shared values, deep local expertise and a focused commitment to the future of South African real estate.
