The Design Joburg Collective: Summer Edition (DJC) will be showcasing the latest in local and global design and art, including debut collections from some of SA’s most promising art and design aficionados, in Kramerville, Johannesburg from October 28 to 31. Show exhibitions, various installations, talks, pop-up events and activations will also take place at two satellite sites at Victoria Yards in Lorentzville and 44 Stanley in Braamfontein. Art Joburg’s Open City will be in full swing during this time too, exhibiting at 26 complementary art galleries and institutions across Johannesburg. www.designjoburgcollective.com

Found in Kramerville, The Storer has a reputation for stylish and ethical furniture and décor – a notable stop on the DJC line-up. Owned by Lisa Storer, it houses pieces sourced from all over the world. “My approach to interiors is to allow the space to speak to you; each space whispers, it is just a matter of listening,” Storer says. “I think it’s so important for us as a design studio to constantly evolve, surprise and delight.” The space is an ode to styling and merchandising and you can browse for some signature items from newly unpacked stock. www.thestorer.co

Tandem Design in Victoria Yards

Design duo Pia Findlay and Joshua McNally are behind the Tandem Design studio at Victoria Yards. They create their own products from their workshop and are known for custom interiors, furniture and homeware. A visit to their studio is a sensory experience of creativity and a respect for materials.
